MIPS Reporting / MACRA Resources

2018 is the second year of MIPS -- providers and practices have the potential to lose up to 5% of their Medicare reimbursements in 2020 based on their 2018 MIPS Final Score. Since 2018 is another transition year, it’s easy to participate and avoid a penalty for most MIPS eligible clinicians.

2018 MIPS Bonuses & Penalties

For 2018, the bonuses and penalties to be distributed in 2020 are -5% to +5X% where X is the possibility for a bonus adjustment factor based on how well your practice performed with MIPS that allows the program to stay budget neutral.

About MACRA and MIPS

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) called for a revolutionary shift in how physicians are paid using quality and value metrics to replace the old SGR methodology for fee schedule adjustment.

MACRA stresses quality of care over quantity of patients seen.

Within MACRA is the Merit-based Incentive Payment System – or MIPS – and the Alternative Payment Model system – or APM.

Both of these tracks are value-based reimbursement models. Take advantage of the following resources to make sure you are fully educated:
