MIPS Reporting / MACRA Resources

It's still not too late to participate in MIPS and avoid a penalty for 2017. Physicians and practices have until March 31, 2018, to report their 2017 patient data.

Here's a list of important MIPS and Quality Payment Program deadlines. Missing these deadlines could affect your submission success and put you at risk of receiving the 4% MIPS Penalty!

2017 MIPS Bonuses & Penalties

For 2017, the bonuses and penalties to be distributed in 2019 are -4% to +4X% where X is the possibility for a bonus adjustment factor based on how well your practice performed with MIPS that allows the program to stay budget neutral. There will be some changes to 2018 MIPS Reporting and the image below gives a very basic outline of minimum reporting requirements for each category.

About MACRA and MIPS

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) called for a revolutionary shift in how physicians are paid using quality and value metrics to replace the old SGR methodology for fee schedule adjustment.

MACRA stresses quality of care over quantity of patients seen.

Within MACRA is the Merit-based Incentive Payment System – or MIPS – and the Alternative Payment Model system – or APM.

Both of these tracks are value-based reimbursement models. Take advantage of the following resources to make sure you are fully educated:
